notes on poetry why it is important… it’s for people who have lost important things in life and our not afraid to admit it. I think there is a certain dignity in that understanding….that you relate to another human being and have something to read and think about instead of closing your self off and entering the world with the intent to do harm for the sake of your own protection… to do harm as a way to cover up your own hurt…

This is my church. With my toes in the water and the tide at my feet, I feel simultaneously powerful through connection to the Infinite and dissolved like a tiny grain of sand in the ocean of time. Where is your church?

So many people I speak to feel alienated from conventional forms of worship. They would rather affiliate with none than identify with any official institution of faith. But God is always there, in the wind, the air, the sand and the sea. If you listen closely you’ll the voice of the Eternal Divine. The message hasn’t changed, but we have gotten so far off course that sometimes we can’t hear.

the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”

Taking care of the Earth, the animals and the plants is a sacred act of service. Why environmentalism isn’t a rallying cry for devout people of faith baffles me. If God made this Earth and put us in charge of it and all its, then it seems like it’s on us to take good care of this Divine gift. But maybe it all starts with ourselves? How can we take good care of the Earth, the animals, the plants and others if we aren’t able to take care of ourselves? This is why I believe yoga has the power to change the world. You start with personal practice and eventually get blessed with a direct experience of the inner light. Then that light transforms you and you are reborn to a new life filled with love. And out of love you become an overflow that finally has the capacity to take care of others. Yoga is a methodology of the spirit that makes the true light evident to every sincere seeker. Then, as fulfilled, whole human beings we can do the work of bringing heaven back to Earth.
